Dear Single Reader (as Stephen King used to say),
I fear you might have given up on me.
Here is what I have to show from the months of June – September: the publication of my first academic research paper, presented to the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) International Conference in Santiago de Chile. I went there in June, and from there onto Buenos Aires.
This, and irresponsible happiness.
Late September was Baja California, Mexico, and its searing sunrises. Halloween saw me as Frida; Diwali, the Indian Festival of Light ( October 30- November 3) saw my home, and heart, ablaze.
…
“Being a candle is not easy; in order to give light one must burn first.”

Happy last night of Diwali, the Indian Festival of light. This is a time where light banishes darkness,a time of renewals and new beginnings.
Great work on the paper Miti. “Storage facilities now have roof decks, lounges and artist’s murals”. What a world we live in.

Yes! it is a world of new typologies and I found the world of storage facilities absolutely fascinating. THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking a look at my labor of love!
The paper linked above will be published in the Conference Proceedings, but I have a longer paper (about four times longer) which I am using as base for an article i am submitting to an architectural journal. It goes more in depth into the socio-economic aspects of why we buy (and store) so much and into theory of urban design…and further examines the different (creative) uses of storage facilities. There is so much more regarding the architecture typology that what I was able to fit in the 4,000 word write-up of my presentation. We had a template and we were limited, so this first paper is packed with data and lacks the narrative I have in the longer pieces. But hey, it’s published!
I will send you my progress. Thank you again for the encouragement, as a writer I am sure you know how much it means.

Grazie….
